Our clients are a family, consisting of a married couple with three children, who are looking to move an elderly parent onto their property for ease of care. Their goal is to create a separate living space that allows the elderly parent independence and privacy, while also keeping them close by.
We worked with our clients to create their ideal ADU design, which includes a door between the main house and the attached ADU for maximum efficiency of care. The unit is mobility accessible with features such as: open spaces; a large bathroom with a curbless shower; wider doors for ease of travel for any walker or wheelchair. A unique luxury feature added to this ADU is a custom sauna (hot room), which was requested by the elderly parent.
